What are the passport rules for travelling to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands?

Since the United Kingdom left the European Union, British passport holders have been subject to third country national rules for entry and exit to EU countries.

Lanzarote is part of the European Union, as it is part of Spain. As such, the rules are exactly the same.

Please be aware these rules are for British passports and other third country nationals. European Union passport holders are not affected by Brexit.

There are two tests the passport must meet.

  1. Was the passport issued in the last 10 years on the date you are entering the EU?
  2. Will the passport be valid for more than 3 months on the date you intend to depart the EU?

Children’s 5 year passports automatically meet the first test.
